Baja California Wine Route
If high temperatures are not your thing, here is a destination for nature lovers and demanding palates. The dreamy landscapes of the vineyards in full harvest season are combined with the palette of flavors and textures of the wines and local gastronomy.
In addition, to celebrate the harvest, in August the Harvest Festival is held. Tastings, tastings, musical concerts, parties, all around the wine and food of Valle de Guadalupe and the rest of the wine valleys.
If you do not know Yucatan, this summer vacation is the perfect opportunity to do so. You can make base in the capital to explore the different attractions of the state. Archeological sites such as Chichen Itza and Uxmal, ancient Mayan cities, are a short trip away from Merida.
There are dozens of cenotes of all sizes that will refresh you from the heat. Also, you can go to Celestun to meet the flamingos!
In all these destinations there is a City Express hotel, so the lodging is covered. Choose one and discover the wonders of Mexico during the summer.
In Merida you can find Tulum, the only archaeological site built in front of the sea and the best preserved, with 60 restored temples. Due to its location, Tulum was an important port of maritime commerce, and a center for pilgrimages.
Seen from the ocean, some parts of its architecture served as a reference for the sailors to follow the exact path to the shore, without running aground on the reef that faces its shores.
The wall that surrounds the archaeological zone of Tulum was built to protect from the attack of other tribes, and originally it was painted in different colors that represented elements of nature: the sun, fire, earth and moon. Only the inhabitants of high lineage, as priests, architects or astronomers could access this walled city of the Riviera Maya.
Some vestiges of Tulum still preserve hieroglyphics and frescoes with the original color.
